How will you make us look stunning on our day?The short answer is that it is easy; you will both look stunning on your day, not only because of your outstanding good looks and what you are wearing but also because of the huge adrenalin surge you will both enjoy; we can enhance the look by careful posing, use of light and attention to detail.Just for example we don't do "full frontals", people are never at their best square on to the camera therefore we will ask you always to stand at about 45 degrees to the camera axis.Should unfortunately you sport an unsightly and very untimely spot on your wedding day (or anywhere else that is visible!) we will remove it photographically speaking. Are you the photographer that will be taking the pictures on our day? Most certainly; the principal photographer is Peter Jones however if he is booked on your day and you wish to use Pretty Pictures for your wedding we will employ another photographer whom you will meet; alternatively we will recommend you to a colleague who is not part of Pretty Pictures. Can we see the pictures all from one wedding? We have a vast portfolio for you to see; all pictures you see are complete wedding albums; we will not and do not assemble the best pictures from a variety of weddings and present those to you; we feel that is totally misleading. When viewing any photographer's portfolio it is essential that you ask to see examples of complete weddings.Anyone can show their best 50 images but that is no indication of how successful a wedding photographer is.Do you use an assistant? We have now taken on an colleague on a part time basis only at present; she will be attending most if not all weddings primarily as an assistant and as a student learning about the wedding photography business; she is now carrying and using a camera and good shots will be added to your portfolio for at the moment no extra cost.Do you have insurance?Yes; in the highly unlikely event of something going amiss we are covered for public liability and professional indemnity. Our opinion of insurance is that it is definitely a "last chance saloon" and we feel that it is far better to get everything right on your day and never have to make a claim. What happens if it tips down with rain?Whilst modern technology has pushed out the boundaries of wedding photography it certainly can't help us to control the weather so we get soaked! You don't! We are British and not likely to let rain to put us off; your day will still be great fun and we will get stunning pictures, brollies, gumboots, puddles the lot! All venues have some attractive room or corner that can be converted to a makeshift studio where small group pictures can still be taken. How do you ensure our pictures are 100% safe?We carry at least two of everything including cameras at a wedding being firm believers of the law according to Professor Sodd i.e. "What can go wrong might go wrong". In addition our camera writes to two cards; as soon as a picture is taken the camera immediately backs it up to another card; in addition we spread the wedding over several cards. As soon as we get back to the computer whatever time it is after completion of a wedding the whole wedding is saved to three hard drives.Subsequently the wedding is then saved to two DVDs.How long have you been in the business?Peter Jones first started photography as an enthusiast in 1991; in 1996 he started wedding photography and mainly covered weddings for other studios. In January 2003 Pretty Pictures was formed and has been in business as such since. What are your principles on privacy? We are absolutely clear on your privacy rights: Under no circumstances whatsoever will your details be passed on to any third party. Your personal details are safe with us and will only be filed if you decide to be a client of ours, the details will only be kept for us to provide an excellent service to you. Should you (regretfully) decide not to do business with us all your details will be permanently deleted. Likewise no credit card details are kept, once you have made the transaction the card details are irreversibly destroyed. What training have you had?Apart from experience obviously,we regularly attend training courses and seminars run by the photographic organisations; in addition we attend photo training overseas which is a week of seminars on cutting edge wedding and portraiture. In addition we keep up to date by studying all the various books, DVDs and periodicals that are relevant to the business. Training is an ongoing procedure and we genuinely seek to improve our performance constantly. What happens if you are ill?Just like the acting profession the show must go on, it would take a very major illness to keep us away from a wedding; if the worst came to the worst we have ties not only with other professional photographers but also with a retired wedding professional of some 40yrs experience who would step in to the breach.Let it be said though we have never missed a wedding for any reason whatsoever and have no intention of doing so either. Are you a member of any Photographic organisations?Although we don't consider membership of any umbrella organisation to be essential to excellence in wedding photography, Peter Jones is a Licentiate of the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers & Associate of the British Professional Photographer's Associates; an Associate of The Royal Photographic Society and also holds a Distinction of the Photographic Alliance of G.B. He is also a member of Envisage. How long do you stay with us on our day?We arrive about an hour and a half before the ceremony start at the bride's leaving venue and stay until the bride and groom sit down to eat their wedding breakfast. If you would like us to stay for the speeches and first dance there is a small extra charge. Please see the Price List. How many pictures will you take?We take as many pictures as it takes; there is no limit. How do you present our proofs? All your images are uploaded to this site for up to twelve months; this is so that you, your friends and family can view all your wedding pictures wherever you or they are in the world. You as clients specify when you would like your images to be uploaded. We now offer Password Protection for your wedding images; to friends and familes who want to access a wedding that is protected please apply to the Bride & Groom for the password. Under no circumstances whatsoever can Pretty Pictures divulge a password.Additionally you receive a proof album which contains two items: a DVD that runs as a slideshow on any PC and most TV/DVD combinations; in addition you may choose a number of 6"x4" prints, the number depending on the package you have chosen. The short service coverage includes a DVD slideshow only. If you want a DVD of high resolution images you may opt to purchase this as an addition to your package. Can we keep all the pictures you produce at our wedding? We have an option where you can purchase a disk of all the pictures produced at your wedding; these images will be in JPEG format which can be read by most systems. The images will be correct on our calibrated monitors but we cannot be held responsible for the appearance on other monitors. A quick look at any TV showroom will indicate that there are as many colour discrepancies as monitors in existence. All our images are subject to UK Copyright Law and copyright is not transferred to you only permission for you the client to have them printed. We take no responsibility for the quality of prints produced by processors other than us, we warn you that many home printers and professional processors are nowhere near our own exacting standards. Under no circumstances is the disk to be copied, published, circulated, sold or distributed. How many images are included in our album? As many images as you want; we have albums of all sizes that can accommodate any number of pictures. What size are our images enlarged? It entirely depends on how you want your album laid out; for clients who prefer a single image per page we now enlarge to an average of 9"x6".Many clients want a variety of album layouts for example two, three or four images on a page, in this case your images could be enlarged in a variety of sizes. We now offer a range of albums that represent the "magazine" style of presentation. In short this means that several images are designed on to a page as a montage including an image which is used as a background. Please Contact Us for more information. Can colour, black and white, sepia or other effects be applied if we want?Almost any effect you like can be applied to any image; apart from colour or black and white pictures can be toned sepia, blue or even a combination of tones. What wedding albums are used?Albums are selected from the high end range from G.F.Smith Photomount or if you select the "Ultimate" package then you may choose from the fabulous Jorgensen range. The range of albums we have access to is comprehensive, we can offer the very modern and contemporary right through to the traditional. With album design there is no right or wrong only what suits you. We are now distributors of the quality range of the GraphiStudio range of albums What styles of photography are adopted i.e.can you do Reportage or Classic or a combination? We are more than happy and able to take pictures in either Classic and/or Reportage styles.Wedding Photography has changed much in recent years; instead of standing from outside the wedding party shooting inwards, many wedding photographers now shoot from the middle outwards. This difference in attitude has resulted in a much more natural, informal and relaxed approach in the Classic style. Whilst there is rapidly growing interest in Reportage, many clients still request from their wedding photographer some, many or all of their images in a Traditional Style that is fresh, modern, up to date and different. This option represents a truly lovely style where a detailed record is wanted of people, their fashions, the wedding car, and of the locations. The Reportage style is a completely natural and informal style of wedding photography that minimises or entirely does away with any breaks in the proceedings. Each image taken in this style is totally unique, totally different to the next image and can never be set up or repeated again. This style captures all the atmosphere, the fun and the "essence" of the day, wedding photographers are able to catch expressions and mood however fleeting. Many or most clients want a combination of the two styles in varying ratios. Do you offer any other wedding photography packages not in your price list?Yes indeed, please Contact Us about any other packages you might like us to put together for you; also do visit All Your Images for a simple concept in wedding photography. Are you able to recommend other wedding suppliers?Working as we do with other wedding suppliers we make it our business to recommend the very best of those whom we have worked with, please visit the Links page for recommended wedding services by us.How can we contact you? Please Contact Us, alternatively go the Contact page where you will find our telephone number if you would like to speak to a human being; if we are unavailable believe it or not we will ring back just as soon as possible; even more incredibly we will answer your emails as soon as physically possible.Where are you based? We are based in South Buckinghamshire locally covering Buckinghamshire,Hertfordshire,Middlesex,West London,Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Bedfordshire; however we are good travellers and are happy to cover the South East and UK Nationally.OK ... Under no circumstances are we able to reserve a date. Once we have booked you, do we see you again before our wedding?Firstly as clients you are free to contact us any time for information, share ideas or just tell us how your wedding preparations are progressing. We will arrange to meet you again within a month of your wedding date to firm up on times and venues but also so we have an exact idea of what you both want in wedding photography.Where appropriate we will attend your wedding rehearsal. How much?To help with your wedding budget we are pleased to publish our current Prices. Our Pretty Pictures weddings start from £895 inclusive; our disk only weddings start at £745. Please Contact Us about our off peak packages. Why on earth should we pay a deposit? From your point of view the deposit of £245 secures your day, we will not accept any more weddings for your day; it also ensures that the price that you have booked at is the price that you will pay despite any price increases.Should of course the price decrease then this would be passed on to you. From our point of view it is necessary not only because it underlines your commitment to the day but also because we get several enquiries for a day therefore by the time your wedding comes round we could have turned away up to twelve weddings on your date. How do we pay?You may pay by cheque, all credit cards except American Express or even in cash. The deposit of £245 is paid at the time of booking; the sum of £500 or half the balance whichever is the greater is payable 4 weeks before your wedding; the remainder is due before delivery of the proofs. All orders for reprints, parent's albums and other ancillary services must be accompanied by the appropriate payment.
